Happy Friday! It’s the last Friday of February and we’re that much closer to spring and I’m feeling it. Here are a few favorites that I collected this week.
Mother’s Trust Foundation Pop-Up Prom Shoppe: Lake Forest-based Mother’s Trust Foundation is hosting its 2nd Annual Pop-Up Prom Shoppe on Saturday and Sunday, April 4-5. Collaborating with Zengeler Cleaners and the College of Lake County, Mother’s Trust is spearheading this effort to collect prom dresses to be worn again. Between now and Friday, April 3, you can drop off prom dresses at any Zengeler Cleaners’ locations or the Mother’s Trust Foundation office located at the Gorton Community Center.
Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Chamber Restaurant Week: How exciting is this? The Chamber of Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Chamber of Commerce is hosting its first ever Restaurant Week starting today, February 28 and running through Sunday, March 8. Nearly every restaurant in these communities is offering a special to celebrate this week, from free appetizers to a delicious meal deal. There’s no better reason to shop local! J.Crew Spring Event on March 14: Forgive the self-promotion here, but Jen Bobay, founder of Jar Bar Makeup and I are packing our bags for spring break and heading to J.Crew at Northbrook Court. Jen will help you pick out the perfect shade of lip gloss to complement the J. Crew pop of color I’ll help you find for your suitcase. Please mark your calendars for Saturday, March 14. J.Crew will offer an additional 10% off any sales they’re running that day for anyone that stops by to see us!
Before I let you go, here are some other things I’m obsessed with this week:
- Currently watching: A friend of mine was raving about Apple TV’s The Morning Show and she was right! I’ve always been mildly obsessed with broadcasting and this behind-the-scenes look at morning news doesn’t disappoint. It’s loosely based on the Matt Lauer debacle at The Today Show. It’s truly great television with an all-star cast including Jennifer Aniston, Steve Carell, and Reese Witherspoon. Just be warned, this show’s favorite word has four letters and starts with an “F.”
- Currently eating: Have you tried the avocado toast from Forest Greens Juice Bar? It’s delicious and a great idea if you’re doing meatless Fridays this Lent.
- Currently following: One of my favorite local Instagram accounts to follow is @deerpathinn. I think General Manager Matt Barba is behind nearly all of the clever captions and hilarious photos. The Deerpath Inn’s stories make me even more proud to have this incredible place in our city.
