A Few Friday Faves

Well, friends, we’ve made it through another week. My two oldest children finished their college finals yesterday and their freshman and and sophomore years are in the books. And I got dressed in REAL clothes three days in a row. How about that? Ha! So, here we go today with a few of my favorites from this week.

Maria Cronin Design Ceramic Dishes: In spite of this crazy time we’re living at home, I’m still finding bright spots every day, like the creativity of some of our local makers have tapped into. Lake Forest’s very talented Maria Cronin has created a line of the most delicate ceramic dishes. Coming in an array of colors, they’re a stunning addition to a side table or bookshelf. Maria just posted a number of new additions to her Etsy site if you’re looking for a special little gift for the mom in your life.

Specialty fries from the Peanut Gallery: These are probably an indication of how well my quarantine diet is going, but these Seoul Fries from Lake Forest’s Peanut Gallery have been giving me life. They are so good and so different! These homemade French fries are topped with chili lemongrass, kimchee, sesame seeds, and scallions…so unexpected and delicious! The Peanut Gallery also has a Mother’s Day brunch special they’re offering. You can place your orders until noon tomorrow, Saturday, May 9.

The Last Dance: I can never get my boys to sit and watch TV with me, but it’s funny when this Netflix special about Michael Jordan is on, The Last Dance, somehow they find their way to our family room. Being a young person in Chicago during Michael Jordan’s hey-day was an experience, and to get to relive it through this series makes it even more so. It’s also so much fun to see locals like John Paxon, Bill Weddington, and Bill Cartwright featured! This is a must see!

Before I let you go, here are some other things I’m obsessed with this week:

  • Currently reading: Have you finished my April book pick, And They Called It Camelot: A Novel of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis? It’s fiction, but so good–the absolute perfect escape for this weird time we’re in. On Friday, May 22, I’ll have a review of this fun book up on the blog and will be announcing what we’ll be reading for the rest of May. (There may also be a giveaway!)
  • Currently following: Do you need a little shot of positivity? There is a sunny blogger in Wilmette, Grace in the Crumbs, who has such a sweet handle on the little things we need to keep going with smiles on our faces during our shelter in place. From recipes to skincare, Katy–a mom to four–is a definite bright spot in the blogosphere.
  • Currently drinking: Since my Starbucks habit has been curbed by corona, I’ve been making my morning coffee with the Silk Oat Yeah Creamer in the Coconut Cookie flavor. A hot cup of coffee with this mixed in literally gets me out of bed in the morning. Yes, it’s a little sugary, but it’s not that bad for you. You can find it at Target with the refrigerated creamers.

Happy Friday!

xo,
