All Things That Sparkle: Karen Anderson Opens Caprice Decadent Jewelry in Market Square

I’m so excited to let you know about another pop-up shop in Market Square. I can’t say enough about these women-owned businesses who are filling downtown Lake Forest this holiday season and Lake Forest’s Karen Anderson is one of them.

Karen has brought a little European sparkle to our city this month with her pop-up shop called Caprice Decadent. An entrepreneur by nature, Karen knew that she wanted to channel her years of financial expertise into a creative endeavor. She searched the world over before discovering Caprice Decadent Bohemian Jewelry, unique gems designed by an artist in Oslo, Norway and handmade in an intimate studio in Athens, Greece.

“The craftsmanship and quality of these pieces are so different than anything else available,” explains Karen, a mother of two young children, who heads the U.S. distribution arm for Caprice Decadent from Lake Forest. Caprice Decadent features earrings of all sizes, bracelets, rings, and necklaces—most pieces plated with 24k gold or antique silver and beaded with Swarovski crystals—at accessible price points.

While many brands being launched in the U.S. today reach their customers solely on line, Karen believes in the importance of people getting to touch and feel the quality of her jewelry. “The best way for us to raise awareness for Caprice is for customers to come touch and feel what this brand is all about.”

Tonight, Thursday, December 5, Karen is teaming up with Katie May (another adorable Lake Forest mom with her own line of skincare, handmade blankets, and clothing designs for mother and child) and is hosting a holiday Sip & Shop where guests can come and try on some of her beautiful pieces and purchase them if they so choose. She’s also collecting new or gently used (“like new”) books, toys, winter coats, boots, etc. in exchange for a 10% discount on your purchase! She will deliver all donated gifts to Cradles 2 Crayons Chicago in time for the holidays.

And if beautiful jewelry and doing good for children wasn’t enough to get you out on a Thursday night, you’ll have a chance to meet a few local bloggers too. Never Without Navy’s Megan Medica and Chicago North Shore Mom’s Ellie Ander will be there to welcome you and help you pick out pretty pieces to try on. I also love to pick their brains about the blogging world and always take away something interesting. I can’t wait to hang out with them tonight. See you there!
