Favorite Podcasts of Late

Last week, I discovered one big thing many of us have in common…a lot of time in the car! I was so excited to hear how many of you listen to audiobooks that I thought I’d also share my favorite podcasts. I was never much of a podcast listener until my daughter started telling me about some of the ones she was listening to when she was out running. Talk about falling down a rabbit hole! And all of this great content is free!

Here are the podcasts I’ve been loving lately:

Bad on Paper: Every week, Grace Atwood and Becca Freeman, two single, professional women in their 30’s living in New York, release an episode that originally started around their love of books. Realizing that was a heavy commitment for them and their listeners to read a book each week, they’ve branched out to include interviews with like-minded folks, as well as covering topics such as asking for a raise, balancning working and life, and traveling tips.

Stuff You Should Know: I’m loving this podcast with hosts Josh Clark and Chuck Bryant, both writers for the Discovery Channel’s “How Stuff Works.” They talk about anything and everything from “The Iowa Caucus” to what prisoners eat in jail. (Crazy!) Recently, I listened to a two-parter about the Tylenol murders, a real-life story that took place in Chicago in the 1980s. I remember hearing about it when I was in grade school but I didn’t know any of the details. This. Was. Fascinating!

Slow Burn: Another amazing podcast the delves into past political stories. The first season focuses on Watergate and the second on the impeachment of President Clinton and each story is approached with a focus on characters that were unknown or had never spoken at length publicly. You will be looking for reasons to pop in your Airpods or drive around town to get through these episodes.

Next Question with Katie Couric: The former news anchor does a compelling job of landing an interview with someone involved in the story of the hour. The best part, her episodes are typically 30 minutes or less where she usually asks the one question I’m dying to know the answer to.

Two Judgey Girls: On the chance you think my podcast choices are a little “high brow,” have no fear. I live for “Two Judgey Girls” where podcasters Courtney and Mary breakdown all of the programming from Bravo each week. Their play-by-play of the Real Housewives franchise and Below Deck is the best (and a little bit dirty so better not listen to these with kiddos or even husbands in the car)! And, they have also started to chime in on TLC’s 90-Day Fiancé . I can’t get enough!

I would love to know what you’re listening to. Please be sure to share your favorite podcasts!
