Fresh Midwest Meal Kit Roundup

A couple of weeks ago, I shared our family’s favorite Costco dinners and this was one of the most-read stories I’ve ever written for my blog. (Love it!) As a rule, I cook for my crew five nights a week–so it’s nice to have a few tricks up my sleeve, like a pre-made dinner or two, that I can work into the routine when time is short. So today on the blog, I’m sharing another one of my tips for quick yummy dinners–Fresh Midwest.

I learned about Fresh Midwest last year. It was founded by twin brothers Patrick and Mike Fitzgerald, North Shore natives who grew up in the food business. Fresh Midwest is an online fresh food and meal delivery business providing locally-grown produce, pre-cut fruits and vegetables, prepared salads, restaurant-quality meats and seafood, chef-inspired meal kits, and timing-saving meal solutions. Fresh Midwest is super easy to use. You go online, order from their weekly offerings, and choose the day you would like it delivered. Depending on when you place your order, it may even arrive the next day–right on your doorstep!

I’ve become a regular shopper of Fresh Midwest’s meal kits. No matter which one you choose, a box arrives with everything you’ll need to prepare that meal–from the few tablespoons of oil, to the meat, to the parsley to garnish the finished product. It’s so easy, but the dinner is so good that your family will never know you took a few shortcuts to make it.

Here are the Fresh Midwest meal kits my family has loved:

Grandma’s Chicken Pot Pie: This is a hands-down hit in my family. It tastes like a pot pie you’ve made from scratch, but it’s better because you didn’t have to put in all of that hard work!

Tacos Al Pastor: These delicious pork tacos were such a surprise! My kids are taco snobs thanks to their Mexican grandmother. We’ve tried nearly every taco you can buy locally, and these are in the top 3 of ones we’ve liked for sure. The marinade alone is worth the $20 price tag of the meal kit, but the fact you can serve a family of four for that amount…amazing!

Wildfire’s Chopped Salad: There are salads and there are salads, but this is a great one! All of the ingredients are the freshest you can find and they basically come ready to be dumped in your bowl. This would be an amazing dish to bring if you find yourself on your way to a fun party this summer in need of a dish to pass.

Wildfire’s Roasted Tomato Mozzarella Flatbread: If you’re looking for a meatless option during the week, or just a lighter dinner, this flatbread green salad combo is for you. It comes together quickly and will leave you feeling that someone made dinner for you. Yum!

Fresh Midwest has loads of other meal kit options and seems to be adding more and more each month. They’ve even given me a code to pass along to you for $25 off your first order if you enter AMS25 at checkout. For more information about Fresh Midwest, visit their website.

Hope this makes your meal-planning chore a little easier!
