Hi friends. Happy Friday! And what a sunny one, too. Today is the big day that we take my son Leo to Notre Dame to start his future there. There are lots of mixed emotions for this mama, but as my Mom always reminds me, “this was the goal.” I guess we don’t want any Scheidlers living in our basement, although, to be honest…I wouldn’t really mind! But today is about getting Leo all moved into his dorm for the summer and even though I’ll miss him more than is humanly possible, this was the goal. Let’s go, Leooooo!
But before I head out the door, I do have five of my favorite things from the week that I want to share with you.
Best dress: I have worn a version of this dress from Anthropologie since last fall. Each season, they come out with new and fabulous colorways, which is such a treat because it’s such a fantastic silouhette. The pricepoint also can’t be beat. This dress can be dressed up or worn with sneakers. It is just the best. (I wear a small for reference.)
New Lake Forest boutique: Downtown Lake Forest is getting a new boutique in the space that was once occupied by Dimitrios Jewelers at the corner of Deerpath and Bank Lane. Opening tomorrow, June 11, Blu Violet, will offer trendy clothes, accessories, and gift items for women. This is the second location for this brand–the original store is located on Milwaukee Avenue in Libertyville.
Lululemon summer camp drive: I’ve been so consumed with all of the end-of-year things happening in my house that I haven’t been able to give back as much as I would like to the service organizations I support. Thankfully, the lululemon in Market Square will have a community corner going all summer that will be collecting items for different places who need our help, starting with Camp One Step this June. I will post a list of things they’re looking for next week.
Summer crossbody: I have had this straw crossbody for years and just love it. I took the Clare V bag for its maiden voyage this summer through the farmers’ markets and it’s a great carryall for all the seasonal goodness we brought home. It’s also a great everyday bag because it’s so light.
Bonus favorite–thank-you cards: If you’re like me, you have kids with about a hundred thank-you notes to write for all of the incredible graduation gifts they received. My friend Carmela from Fiore Press has the most beautiful notecards with a picture of the high school printed on them. These would be perfect for your new graduates to use.
Well, I’m off. Wish me luck. I’m so incredibly happy for my sweet Leo to start making his dreams happen, but my heart is breaking at the same time. It’s kind of the beginning of that separation we dread when we bring them home from the hospital as babies. Ugh. But such a very happy time, too.
Happy weekend, all! Enjoy the sunshine!
