Friday Favorites

Happy Friday! We have made it to the end of another busy week. I feel like we’re finding our summer groove over here at the Scheidler house with our smaller crew and I’ve been able to revisit a few projects I had to put on hold because of our graduation month. I gave our garage the deepest cleaning it’s had in a while and I’m back to looking at carpet for our upstairs. If anyone has any advice or good experiences they’d like to share about where they found nice, budget-friendly options, I’d love to hear them.

I also want to thank all of the good people who donated books to my bare little library. I had friends show up to yoga with bags full of summer reads and came home to stacks of books on my front doorstep. I was commenting to a friend this week how people are just so generous and then wondered if that’s unique to the North Shore or are all communities just as lucky. I’m hoping it’s the latter.

To kick off this beautiful weekend, here are my five favorites from the week:

Farmers’ Markets are Back! The Lake Bluff Farmer’s Market and the Elawa Farm Market are in my top 10 favorite things of a North Shore summer. Both are back for the season and adding more and more items each week as the summer harvests unfold. If you’ve never been, be sure to put these on your calendar for some Friday this summer.

Serena & Lily Opens in Winnetka: Sometimes I just pinch myself when certain invitations arrive in my email. I was thrilled to be included in the press preview for the brand new Serena & Lily store that officially opens to the public tomorrow, June 18. The brand brought their top leadership to the event–including their CEO Lori Greeley–who walked us through their design process, manufacturing, and hopes for their Winnetka location. This is such a great get for the North Shore and I promise just walking through their front doors will leave you feeling inspired. I would move in if they’d let me!

Julia Amory Shirtdress: Speaking of the Serena & Lily event, my sweet friend and fellow blogger Katie Cassman happened to be a there, too. Katie and I met a million years ago when she interned for the magazine I was an editor for. She is one of the most stylish women I know and her North Shore IQ is off the charts. Katie recently launched a newsletter that highlights all of the best North Shore happenings. If you’d like to be added to her email list, message her here. But the real reason I’m bringing up Katie is that she was wearing the most darling dress from the brand Julia Amory. In my opinion, it was the perfect summer dress with a crisp collar, sleeves that hit right above the elbow, and a hemline at mid calf. This gorgeous dress was also fully lined and even had pockets! Katie was wearing the print I’ve linked here, but there are a number of other color ways that are just as pretty.

Jumpsuits: While Katie was wearing the perfect dress, I had myself a jumpsuit week. I thought dresses were the answer to my one-and-done looks, but jumpsuits have become a close second best. Last week, I had the best luck at Target with this look and this look. They both run true to size, have pockets, and are awesome for hot summer days when you still want to look cute. And ladies, they are on sale for $21! It looks like stock for these is running low, but Target seems to restock great items like these. It’s definitely worth keeping an eye out for these if they don’t have your size at the moment. And it’s a great reminder that we don’t have to break the bank to look pulled together.

National Yoga Day: Next Tuesday, June 21 is National Yoga Day. If there is one practice that I’ve picked up in the last few years that has really changed by life, it’s yoga. Everyone can do it–no matter your age or physical fitness. I can’t say enough about how much I love the studio I go to–Forever Om. It has the most amazing community where I’ve met some of my closest friends. Additionally, lululemon in Lake Forest’s Market Square is hosting a community class in the Square from 9:30 to 10:30 am to celebrate National Yoga Day. Bring your mat and water. All levels are welcome. The forecast for Tuesday is sunny (and a little bit hot!).

And to get you a little more excited for things to come, I just received the press release for the opening of Le Colonial in Lake Forest! They will even be adding lunch service in July. I can hardly wait!

Happy weekend, friends. Make it a good one.

xo,
