Graduation Looks for Mom

We’re closing in on our first graduation of the season at Notre Dame this weekend. I’m just so proud of our girl and can’t wait to celebrate her.

You won’t be surprised to know that I’ve been thinking about this weekend for a long time, including what I’ll be wearing. Typically when things stump me, I find out that they are also things that you’re thinking about. So I decided to do a round up of all of the clothes I’ve tried on and loved as options for our upcoming graduations. In the descriptions, I tell you which ones I’ve kept and which ones were beautiful, but I decided to return. These items do skew a little more expensive than what I typically buy, but after the lockdown of 2020, I had very few “nice” items left in my closet. I also know that my wear-per-item with all of the graduation fun we have ahead make all of these purchases pretty justifiable. (Also, with the exception of just a couple of things, I was able to buy most of these items on sale. (It might have just been 10% off here and there, but it all adds up!)

White denim jumpsuit: This is the dreamiest, stretchiest jumpsuit from Paige Denim that I found at Evereve. It can go from day to night no problem. Fit is true to size.

Red polka dot dress: This dress is from a newer brand to me that I just love–Hunter Bell. If you’re local, Bunny & Babe carries this line and line and Lillie Alexander, Ltd. may, too. This dress has the cutest silhouette. The fit does run a little small so if you’re between sizes, I would size up. I loved this dress but decided not to keep it.

Straw clutch: J. McLaughlin was loaded with cutest straw bags for Mother’s Day and this one totally caught my eye.

Gold mules: After having these shoes in my virtual cart for three years, I finally pulled the trigger when my daughter Annie said she’d also love to wear them to prom. They are so pretty and look just as polished with blue jeans as they do a prom dress.

Bracelets: These are my most favorite bracelets of the season.

Earrings: These earrings make everything look a little extra special. I love them, too, because the are very lightweight.

Espadrilles: Two of our graduations are outdoors and these wedges are a great option.

Navy jumpsuit: This J. McLaughlin jumpsuit saved me last week when I had a spring event on a day that was 30 degrees with sideways rain. It runs true to size (I wore a 6.)

Pink gingham dress: I don’t have this dress, but saw it when I was shopping and think someone has to wear it. It’s also from Hunter Bell and just says summer.

White patchwork dress (I’m wearing this in the picture up top): I was over the moon when I was able to buy this dress from Sea New York during the Shopbop sale. Keep your eyes open for these occasional sales because you can always find something special for a good deal.

Floral blouse and skirt: This set from Ulla Johnson is a show-stopper. I found it at Lake Forest’s Lillie Alexander and it looks adorable when paired with the white blazer from J. Crew.

White blazer: I’ve already worn this J.Crew blazer a ton this season. It looks great over a dress, jumpsuit, or with jeans and cute white tee.

Straw tote: This was just too cute not to include. Loeffler Randall always gets it right. Lillie Alexander has this tote in stock.

Floral wrap dress: This beautiful wrap dress is from a brand called Mille. The print is stunning, but I didn’t love this wrap dress on me. This line of dresses comes in so many styles and prints though that I had to tell you to check them out. They seem to run a little on the small size.

Blue midi dress: This is my most favorite dress. It’s from CK Bradlely and it was the color, puff sleeves, and midi length that did it for me. It runs a little on the small size so I ordered a medium. Additionally, I thought it was priced well for a nicer dress. I actually bought this dress from my favorite Vero Beach retailer, Sassy Boutique. They’re worth a follow on Instagram. Their stuff is adorable!

I hope this helps you find some pretty options for the summer fun you have ahead! Please let me know what you think!

xo,

  2. […] Graduation looks: It was so much fun to love everything I wore at graduation last week. This one-piece Paige jumpsuit was my absolute favorite, so comfortable–I will definitely be wearing it on repeat this summer. It runs true to size (I purchased a size 6.) I also felt so pulled together in this dress from CK Bradley. It fit perfectly. (I bought the medium. I ordered online from this darling store in Florida and they told me it fit tighter across the chest and better to size up.) I also saw last week that they released the same silhouette in this coral/pink color way that it is a stunner. There aren’t many sizes left, but you might want to grab one if yours is available. […]
