With a couple of weeks into the new school year, my routine for the day is starting to take shape, including what I’m doing to workout. I’ve noticed that everything is better when I get some kind of exercise in during the day–this has become a must for me! I try to do something every day.
In August, my favorite local hot yoga studio reopened and it’s been absolutely dreamy to be back with the smaller class sizes and familiar faces. I try to go three times each week, as early in the morning as I can get there. Each class is 60 minutes and I leave a sweaty mess. And, on the days I get to yoga, I also try to squeeze in a 1- to 2-mile walk.
When I don’t go to yoga, I’ll take a five-mile walk. I have a couple loops that start and end from my house that make this pretty easy. And even though my power-lifting boys make fun of me, I’ve started to wear these Bala Bangle 1-pound weights on my wrists when I walk just to add a little bit of something to my arms when I’m out.
I’m hoping the weather holds so that this little routine can continue, but I probably need to come up with a back-up plan for walking once it gets cold outside. What’s your plan for winter?
