Peanut Butter Turkey Cookies

November 23, 2020 By Ann Marie Scheidler Leave a Comment

I couldn’t let Thanksgiving come and go without some kitschy looking treat for you to make. These turkey cookies were too cute, too yummy, and too easy not to share. And they’re great if you need a project to keep little hands busy over the long holiday weekend.

What You Need

  • 1/2 cup salted butter, softened
  • 2/3 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup sugar for rolling
  • Small Reese’s peanut butter cups
  • Miniature M&M’s
  • Small candy eyes
  • Candy corn

What You Do

  1. Preheat your oven to 350° and line a baking sheet with a piece of parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat your butter, peanut butter, and both sugars together until mixed.
  3. Mix in your egg, milk, and vanilla extract.
  4. Add your dry ingredients (flour and baking soda) and mix until you have a thick dough.
  5. Form your dough into small balls, roll into your sugar, and place onto your baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 10 minutes.
  7. Unwrap your Reese’s cups and press an unwrapped chocolate onto the center of each cookie a couple minutes after you take them out of the oven (too soon and your chocolate will melt everywhere).
  8. Place two candy eyes and a sideways orange or yellow M&M onto the top of the Reese’s.
  9. Carefully place 3 pieces of candy corn into the back of Reese’s cup, sticking out of the cookie.
  10. Place in the freezer for the chocolate to harden.

That’s all there’s to it! Enjoy!

xo,

I have to admit that I'm a little anxious going into this inauguration week. I'm truly hoping we'll have the peaceful transition that we've been promised. As if she knew my mind was a little unsettled, my mom shared this quote from Pope Francis in our sister group text this week.⁣
⁣
"Rivers do not drink their own water; trees do not eat their own fruit, the sun does not shine on itself and flowers do not spread their fragrance for themselves. Living for others is a rule of nature. We are all born to help each other. No matter how difficult it is...Life is good when you are happy, but much better when others are happy because of you."⁣

I ❤️ this! Let's have a great week. Happy happy Sunday! ❌⭕️⁣

My sweet friend Courtney from @alifefromscratch is regularly featuring hearty pots of soup and her recipe for "Zuppa Toscana" (Italian Soup) is one that will be on repeat in my house this season. You can pull it together quickly, with just a few ingredients, and is one of those magical light dinners that has you leaving the table feeling full. Today on the blog, I share Courtney's delicious recipe. Enjoy!⁣ 🥣

Cheers to surviving the first full week of 2021!⁣⁣ It was one for the books. 🥴

Like many of you, I'm having a dry January over here and trying my hand at a few new mocktails (alcohol-free). Even when you're not drinking, it's so nice to be able to hold a pretty cocktail glass with something that tastes good (and that also happens to be low in calories). Today on the blog, I'm sharing a few easy recipes for you to make during your happy hour this weekend--including one I took from my dear friend @saragmeadows . ❤️ Happy Friday! ❌⭕️
