Skincare Products to Help You Weather Winter Better

With winter sneaking up on us so quickly this year, I’ve had to shake up my skincare routine and I wanted to share some new products that I’ve tried and loved!

First up, I discovered cleansing balms last year for washing my face and I’m crazy about them. They’re heavier than your typical cleanser but this ends up making them more of a treatment than a soap. My new find is by Elemis, their Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm. It has a very creamy texture and just glides on with your fingertips. It not only completely cleans my face, but it feels so smooth and moisturized when I’m finished. Even though I use it every day, a little goes a long way and this jar lasts and lasts.

I have terribly dry skin but have never been good about using body lotion. That was until I discovered Glossier’s Body Hero Daily Perfecting Cream. A facial cream inspired the formula for this body lotion and it’s dreamy. You put it on and it absorbs immediately. I actually look forward to it because it smells so good–a very powdery, citrusy blend. Love it!

Of my entire body, my hands show the wear of winter the most and sometimes they need a little something extra. My new favorite thing is the Deep Hydration Hand Sheet Mask by Borghese. It’s almost like wearing rubber gloves that have the treatment baked inside. They are completely luxurious and a great thing to do if you’re cuddled up in front of the TV. The directions suggest you leave them on for 15-20 minutes, but in this case I think longer is better. They’re awesome and I think they’d make a great gift for a girlfriend if you’re looking for something a little different.

Last week, on my field trip to goop’s pop-up in Chicago, I picked up their famous GoopGlow 15% Glycolic Overnight Glow Peel. This product has been showing up in my Instagram feed for months and I’ve been dying to try it. But I must warn you, it’s not for the faint of heart–or skin! These suckers are powerful. Each packet is a pad infused with the glycolic acid. The minute you apply it to your cleansed face before bedtime, you feel it working. In fact, my face tingled for a few days later. I do think it’s an amazing exfoliator, but rather than using it weekly as suggested, I may only do it monthly. As winter progresses, maybe I’ll try it twice a month, but for now, once a month will do the trick.

I’m a total product gal and love trying new things. Please do let me know if you’ve discovered anything to help you weather winter better, too!
