Outfit Of The Week: Layering With lululemon

It’s so crazy that people have asked me to share some outfit ideas on my blog, but I thought that I would give it a whirl. And since I’m spending so many hours these days cheering for my football playing boys from the bleachers, lululemon helped me put together a look that was casual but cute (it always has to be about about the cute).

Before I dive into the pieces of this look, though, I have to let you know that lululemon isn’t sponsoring this post (although they have been incredibly supportive of me and my blog!). When I write about clothing I like, it’s because I truly like it and that it works for me. I also love that we have lululemon right here in our beautiful downtown and I think it’s so important to support them.

That said, lululemon’s sales people know their stuff! My daughter just started training there while she was home last week on fall break and as part of her onboarding for their holiday workforce, she had to try on all of their inventory so that she could better understand the company’s innovative technology and the size, fit, and function of each piece. Her takeaway was that everything lululemon does is very intentional. How cool is that?

Any who, back to this outfit I’m loving this week. I’m crazy about this vest. It’s great for doing cool-weather errands or a chilly run. My only advice is to size up. Part of what makes this vest such a great wardrobe staple is its slim fit, but you want to make sure that you’re comfy too and that you can easily layer something beneath it.

I’m always on the hunt for a great long-sleeve white tee and I think I found the one. While I don’t think I’d ever work out in this shirt, it’s great under this vest, a down jacket, or even a blazer. It also passed my “thickness” test where it’s heavy enough that I don’t need to stress about what I’m wearing underneath. This shirt runs more true to size but I did size up to give me a little extra room.

Finally, my friend Heidi has been talking about these pants as being life changing and I don’t think she’s far off the mark. They are incredibly flattering, loose-fitting, wrinkle-free, and just easy to wear…right out of the wash! They are great for my mom life but I also think they’d be perfect to wear on a long flight. My only caution is that they do have pockets right on the hips, which is something I usually steer clear of because that’s the widest part of my body. But on these pants, they don’t really bother me and it’s nice to be able to stick my phone in my pocket when I’m out for a walk with a pal or at a game. These are definitely worth checking out!

Finally, I’ve taken to wearing some baseball hats and this is my new favorite. If you haven’t been to Share or its sister store Shack in Wilmette, you have to go! Owner Karen O’Sullivan designed an entire line of hats and tees with this North Shore logo where she highlights the “600,” the prefix for all of the North Shore’s zip codes! Very clever, so much fun, and another example of what makes living on the North Shore so special.

I hope this was helpful! I look forward to sharing more from my closet soon!
