Vitamin C for Your Skin That Doesn’t Break the Bank

January 14, 2021 By Ann Marie Scheidler 1 Comment

It’s been so much fun having my daughter Grace home from college. In addition to her keeping me on my toes in the kitchen, we’ve been able to compare notes on lots of other things–including our skincare routines. We’ve both noticed that our faces have been handling the changes in weather a hundred times better than past years, and we both agree we can probably attribute that to one thing–Vitamin C.

Last year during quarantine when I had lots of time on my hands, I experimented with lots of different skincare products–so many that I got in a little over my head and wasn’t really sure what the big difference makers were. So I asked my facialist and she said that every woman over the age of 35 should be using Vitamin C on her skin.

Even though I was using a more expensive Vitamin C product over the summer, Grace and I’ve discovered two highly effective topical Vitamin C serums that are available at amazing price points.

For the last month, Grace has been using the TruSkin C Serum. It has more than 50,000 five-star ratings on Amazon and Grace would agree with the hype. She has noticed that her skin is so much brighter and that the circles under her eyes appear lighter (although that could also be her being at home with her mom taking care of her! ) If you’re unsure about Vitamin C but would like to give it a try, TruSkin C Serum is a great way to give it a whirl. The 1 ounce size is less than $20 on Amazon.

For myself, I’ve been loving Beautycounter’s Counter+ All Bright C Serum. It’s one of Beautycounter’s bestsellers and I can see why. I use it morning and night under my moisturizer and it’s lightweight and non-greasy. I have so much sun damage from my teenage years and I really believe my dark spots have lightened. I also usually have a chronic battle with dry skin in the winter and I haven’t changed up my skincare routine at all moving from summer to fall to now–a first for me for sure! My skin just feels healthier. Beautycounter’s Counter+ All Bright C Serum costs $79, which is half the price of the product I was using last fall. I also love that Beautycounter is committed to clean beauty, creating products that use a toolbox of clean, sustainable ingredients that have been screened by safety experts. It’s been a win for me all around.

If you’re in the market for a little skin brightening, Grace and I can’t say enough about how great Vitamin C has treated us. As always, if you have questions, feel free to ask away!

xo,

[…] Vitamin C: Yesterday I wrote a post about the real game-changer my daughter Grace and I discovered when it comes to skincare–Vitamin C. I use Beautycounter’s Counter+ All Bright C Serum morning and night and my skin has never weathered a winter as well as it has this one. Grace uses TruSkin, which you can find on Amazon for less than $20. It’s an inexpensive way to give yourself a little boost this winter. […]

I made this spinach, cherry tomato, and Italian sa I made this spinach, cherry tomato, and Italian sausage pasta for dinner last night and it was so good! This recipe is inspired by one of my favorite bloggers, @lizadams from Hello Adams Family. It's one of those recipes that can be doctored to be just the way you like it, and you can swap out the pasta for your favorite gluten-free version if you like. This is a great dinner idea to add to your rotation. Happy Monday! ❤️⁣

Just a quick Sunday thank-you note for all of the Just a quick Sunday thank-you note for all of the support you gave to the blog post I shared on Friday. ❤️ My daughter Annie's thoughts about the importance of our high school reopening definitely connected with a lot of you and your children.⁣
⁣
The upcoming school board election on April 6 is going to be critical to our schools fully reopening with teachers in the building. Please take the time to read about the candidates running and be sure to vote for the people who will make this happen.⁣

We are certainly all in this together! Hang in there! xo ❤️
Last night at dinner I told my family that I was g Last night at dinner I told my family that I was going to have to take a break from social media. I had finally hit my limit of crazy when it comes to the discussion of our local high school reopening. While I realize there is no easy path to making this happen, it must. The reasons for not opening no longer make any sense to me.⁣
⁣
As I was on my soapbox at the dinner table, I watched my daughter Annie’s body language completely change. (She's pictured here in this photo with her brother Leo.) When I asked her what was up, she said that no one has really asked her what she thinks of the high school’s current learning environment. So I asked Annie if she would be up for sharing her thoughts about the current status of LFHS--and she was--and I've captured them in today's blog post. ⁣
⁣
Please know, I just share Annie’s answers in the hopes of shining a light on another perspective when it comes to reopening our schools. Our family LOVES Lake Forest High School. Annie is our fourth child to attend there. My husband and I took a leap from the Catholic education we grew up in to send our kids to the public school and our expectations have been exceeded every step of the way until this last year. The pandemic caught us all off guard, and grace must be given for that. But it’s time to figure this out. ⁣
⁣
With that said, please click on the link in my bio to read Annie's thoughts.❤️
Friends, it's been a doozy of a couple of days. Ca Friends, it's been a doozy of a couple of days. Car troubles, computer problems, even my oven decided to give me a run for my money. But we're back at it today, tackling those to-dos, and feeling grateful for the heatwave! ☀️☀️☀️⁣

How's your week going?⁣
